Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine

The MedStar Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Program provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for young athletes at all levels of play. As part of the largest sports medicine program in the Mid-Atlantic region, we provide a full-service approach to the care of the young athlete, including research, education and clinical care. Our highly trained sports medicine professionals provide team coverage for a wide range of recreational, scholastic and elite youth sporting organizations, and we have developed best practices for performance enhancement and injury prevention services for all levels of youth sports. We recognize the changing landscape of youth sports in America and are focused on health, safety and a positive sporting experience for all young athletes, whether they are involved just for fun or to reach the next level of play.

In the Baltimore area, The MedStar Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Program is lead by Lindsay Jones, MD and Frank Dawson, MD, pediatricians who are also fellowship trained in sports medicine. They are joined by Richard Hinton, MD, MPH, an orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in sports medicine and Leigh Ann Curl, MD, a sports orthopedic surgeon. This team is supported by a robust general pediatric program and a wide range of musculoskeletal physicians specializing in sports medicine and subspecialty areas, such as foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, spine, and hip.

Our partnership with MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and MedStar Sports Performance Enhancement allows us to offer individualized, sports-specific rehabilitation, athletic training, physical therapy, and return to play training in many convenient locations across the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. region. Our team provides care for nearly all of the professional and college programs in the region and appropriately applies this experience to the care of our younger athletes.

We strive to offer same-day or next-day availability for prompt evaluation and diagnosis of sports conditions. Call 410-248-8398 for more information or to schedule an appointment today.
