Maureen Thompson, MS, LAT, ATC joined MedStar Sports Medicine in 2012. Maureen is currently an outreach athletic trainer splitting her time working with the physical therapy team at the Peninsula MedStar NRH Rehabilitation Network clinic and providing athletic training coverage at Salisbury University, primarily working with Women’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey. Prior to this position she worked as a full time Athletic Trainer at Salisbury University for 9 years working with Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer and Cross Country. Maureen earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Athletic Training and Physical Education from Salisbury University and her Master’s degree in Health Sciences from James Madison University. Maureen has a special interest in ACL prevention and community engagement. Maureen has also served as treasurer of the MATA and is currently the PAC treasurer. In 2016, she was awarded the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainer’s Association Service Award. Maureen feels that athletic trainers are an invaluable part of the health care system. She does her best to promote the special capabilities of an athletic trainer on a daily basis by engaging with patients, in a positive and innovative way. She truly tries to make a difference every day for all patients, whether they are a youth baseball player or a retired grandparent who wants to remain active with their grandkids. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, spending time with my family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors, especially the beach.
