Baltimore—MedStar Sports Medicine has renewed its partnership with Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) to serve as the official medical provider of the annual Baltimore Running Festival (BRF). The four-year deal begins with this year’s event, set for October 12 throughout the streets, neighborhoods and attractions of Charm City.
“The Baltimore Running Festival is an amazing and unique event that shows off the entire city like no other, and along with that comes unique demands on our medical team,” said Lew Lyon, Ph.D., vice president, MedStar Sports Medicine. “Based off of our several years of current experience as BRF’s medical provider, we’re confident in our ability to execute a thorough medical plan that will address the wide range of needs of a field of 25,000 runners.”
“When you are in the event management business, there is nothing more important than your medical plan,” said Lee Corrigan, President of CSE. “Runners and spectators can have peace of mind knowing they’ll have a world-class team from MedStar overseeing our medical operations.”
Last year’s festival generated an event record $38.6 million in economic impact and raised $1.7 million for local charities. It was also the largest participatory event in the state in 2012.
